Revealing the Cryptic Diversity of Wood-Inhabiting Auricularia (Auriculariales, Basidiomycota) in Europe

چکیده
Some unusual specimens of the wood-inhabiting fungus Auricularia auricula-judae have been studied using morphological and molecular methods. As expected from external features, we describe a new species cerrina sp. nov. Sequencing ITS region confirms differences other Auricularia, preliminary phylogenetic analysis is presented. characterized by blackish fruitbodies in fresh conditions with combined presence medulla layer small spores compared auricula-judae. The based on Czech Republic (central Europe) Quercus cerris. Colour photographs situ some microscopic photos are provided.

Loss of diversity in wood-inhabiting fungal communities affects decomposition activity in Norway spruce wood
Hundreds of wood-inhabiting fungal species are now threatened, principally due to a lack of dead wood in intensively managed forests, but the consequences of reduced fungal diversity on ecosystem functioning are not known. Several experiments have shown that primary productivity is negatively affected by a loss of species, but the effects of microbial diversity on decomposition are less studied...
متن کاملUnexpected layers of cryptic diversity in wood white Leptidea butterflies.
Uncovering cryptic biodiversity is essential for understanding evolutionary processes and patterns of ecosystem functioning, as well as for nature conservation. As European butterflies are arguably the best-studied group of invertebrates in the world, the discovery of a cryptic species, twenty years ago, within the common wood white Leptidea sinapis was a significant event, and these butterflie...
متن کاملDiversity of Cryptococcus and Dioszegia yeasts (Basidiomycota) inhabiting arbuscular mycorrhizal roots or spores.
The genera Cryptococcus and Dioszegia contain basidiomycetous yeasts found in a wide range of habitats. Primers to amplify the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) also allow detecting members of this yeast group. Here we report the results of a sequence analysis using maximum parsimony on a set of 50 ITS sequences o...
